Basic Information

Obsidian chimeras are capable of doing many labor intensive jobs. This Guide will cover Mining and Excavation.
Mining is a job that will help you obtain many crafting ingredients. Chimera Miners will gain experience while mining,
enabling them to gather more difficult to recognize items in the rocks. These mining rocks can be found in tunnels
through the obsidian mountains.

One of the things you can obtain from mining is a special stone.
They come in 3 types: Lock Stones, Vault Stones or Atlas Stones.
When you get one of these stones, you will need to take it to an excavation table. There you can work your way through
the layers of the stone to uncover the core. The core will be made of a specific rock or ore
that will reward you with 3 - 7 items. You will also have the chance to discover items hidden in the layers
of the stone. The stones have an integrity that wears down as you work on them. If the stones loses all integrity,
it crumbles away, taking the core with it. As you gain levels in excavation, you will unlock
more tools and become more proficient using them, causing less damage to these stones.

Mining

To begin mining, you will need a chimera.

Chimera Requirements for mining:
	- Must be at least 7 days old, and no more than 150 days old.
	- Must Be attached to your avatar's center.
	- Must NOT be hungry.
	- Must NOT be frozen.

To begin mining, you will need to travel to the Obsidian Valley, and enter the tunnels. There you will be able to find mine rocks.

When you find a mine rock, you will need to get close to it, and then "Touch" it. You will only need to touch it 1 time.
Mining is an automatic process and will continue until you walk away from the rock, or it is completely mined out.
While mining, the chimera will have a chance to get items from the mine rock. The items you can obtain are based off 2
things: Your Chimeras mining level, and the type of mine rock you are mining.

Rock Seam Items: - Sandstone - Limestone - Talc Rock - Raw Salt - Raw Coal - Lava Stone - Mana Stone
Metal Seam Items: - Copper Ore - Iron Ore - Aluminum Ore - Tin Ore - Lead Ore - Zinc Ore - Silver Ore - Raw Gold - Lodestone - Unrefined Mythril
Gem Seam Items: - Raw Crystal - Amethyst - Sapphire - Emerald - Ruby - Diamond - Obsidian
As your chimera increases in mining levels, it will gain items listed higher on the list. You are able to obtain anything from all three lists on any seam type, but the odds are lower to get an item from a different seam type than what you are mining. All mining rocks will also give you special stones. These stones will be dropped out onto the ground. There, the stone will load. When it is finished loading, it will attempt to give itself to you. If you do not accept this, or walk away and leave it there, the stone will not go away. It will try to give itself to you when you get close to it again. If the stones are not retrieved, they may get removed by the region admins.
The stones will come in 3 different types based off the level of mining chimera you are using. The Smallest stones are Lock Stones, The Medium stones are Vault Stones, and the Largest size stones are the Atlas Stones.

Mining Levels

Every time your chimera strikes a mine rock, it will gain some XP. The level progression is as follows: Novice 2nd Class - Requires 500 XP Novice 1st Class - Requires 1000 XP Journeyman 2nd Class - Requires 1500 XP Journeyman 1st Class - Requires 2000 XP Expert 2nd Class - Requires 2500 XP Expert 1st Class - Requires 4500 XP Master 2nd Class - Requires 7000 XP Master 1st Class - Requires 7500 XP Grandmaster 2nd Class - Requires 8900 XP Grandmaster 1st Class - Requires 15000 XP When your chimera has an offspring, 1/3 of its level and current XP will be transferred to the baby.

Excavation

Excavation is the process for removing material from a Stone to access mining ingredients.
When you go mining and obtain a special "Stone" you will need to bring it to an Excavation Table.

To begin Excavation on a Stone, First touch the station to stand at the table. Then Rez the stone out on the ground, and touch the stone. This will cause the stone to load itself onto the table.
Once the Stone loads to the table, you will have your camera view moved to a position overhead looking down on the table. Once in this view, you can rotate your stone by using the arrow keys.
There are six different tools available for excavation. The First three tools on the left table wing are The Chisel, The Drill, and The Scoop.
The Second three tools on the right table wing are The Solvent, The Demolition Charge , and The Restoration Scroll.
To select a tool, you can just click on it or to cycle through them using the "PG UP" or "PG DOWN" keys. The tool you have selected will be highlighted so that you know what you are using. You will start with access to the Chisel tool. Every 10 levels, you will unlock a new tool.
- The Chisel - This tool is the basic Excavation tool. It will break through normal rock and soft rock layers. It does more damage to a soft layer, and can cause a chain effect where many soft layers collapse in on the stone which can cause a large amount of damage. The chisel is also the tool used to recover items found in the layers of the stone.
- The Scoop - This tool is unlocked at the Novice Level. It will remove soft rock layers. It does less damage than a chisel and prevents soft layer collapse.
- The Drill - This tool is unlocked at the Journeyman Level. It will remove 3 layers of rock, making a deeper hole than the chisel or scoop. The drill is the only tool capable of removing hard layer sections. This tool will do more damage to soft layers and may destroy items in the layers beneath it.
- The Solvent - This tool is unlocked at the Expert Level. It will remove normal rock and soft rock layers. When used, it dissolves a large area of the layer, but will not have any affect on hard rock. It can cause soft layer collapse.
- The Restoration Scroll - This tool is unlocked at the Master Level. It can be used once per stone to restore some of the stone's integrity. It will make some more difficult stones easier.
- The Demolition Charge - This tool is unlocked at the Grandmaster Level. This destructive tool will destroy all layers to the depth of the hole it is used in. So, if you used another tool to make a hole four layers deep, and then used a charge in that hole, the four layers will be blown off. If you use this tool on a hole that is exposing the core, it will destroy your stone.
Now you will have to begin excavation. Select your tool, then simply "Touch" the stone on the spot you wish to use the tool. When you have removed at least 25% of the layer, the rest will fall off. There are several different types of material you will encounter on your stone layers.
- Normal Rock Layer - This layer is the basic rock. To remove it you can use the chisel, the solvent, the drill, or the demolition charge.
- Soft Rock Layer - This layer is softer rock. To remove it you can use the chisel, the scoop, the drill, the solvent, or the demolition charge. Any method of removal other than the scoop can cause the soft layers to collapse and will cause a large amount of damage to your stone.
- Hard Rock Layer - This layer is harder rock. To remove it you can use the drill. It is the most difficult type of stone you can encounter.
- Weak Rock - This spot on the rock is extremely fragile. If you use a chisel on it, then you will cause the entire layer it is on to collapse, causing a very fast removal of material, but also doing a significant amount of damage. The weak spots will only do this if they are on the CURRENT OUTER LAYER of your stone.
- Special Items - Within the layers of your stone, you can sometimes find special items. These can include: - Silver Ore - Raw Gold - Amethyst Gems - Emerald Gems - Ruby Gems - Sapphire Gems - Diamods To remove these items, you will need to use your Chisel. Other tools will destroy the item.
As you remove layers from the rock, you will see the integrity of the stone drop. If this bar empties completely, your stone will crumble and you will receive no reward. Every tool will affect this meter in different ways. As you progress in level, you will notice you are doing less damage.
When you get deep enough, you will begin to uncover the core of your stone. Be sure you do not use tools on this core. All you will do is cause damage to the stone's integrity.
When you completely uncover the core of your stone, you will receive a reward. This reward will be based off your stone's difficulty, and the quantity of the reward will be based on the size of the stone.
The Lock Stones will reward you three items. The Vault Stones will reward you five items. The Atlas Stones will reward you seven items. These items will be given to you in a folder named "Excavated Item".
